talk to me about things that’s keeping you down
come to me
its okay to show your frown
i know beneath your skill there’s a crown
yeah I know beneath your skull there’s a crown
because you’re living proof
that the things they do to you
won’t kill you
no, they won't kill you
you’ve stayed around all these years
you’ve survived sleepless nights tormented by your fears
so won't you stay around
for just a little bit longer now
i know beneath your skill there’s a crown
yeah, i know beneath your skull there's a crown
oooooo
oooooo
you’re living proof

today I drew the sun in my driveway out of chalk
and I know that the rain will wash it away
but that's okay
because staring at it I remember all the memories that were made
days turn to weeks turn to months turn to years
and I'm still sitting here
serenading the seasons
but that’s okay
that’s okay
things are gonna be okay for me
so I'll sing this tune around my sun made of chalk that I've drawn in the sidewalk
and I know that it'll wash away
but that's okay
that’s okay
we’re okay.

june 18th in the pouring rain
(oooooh)
you were the only one i could play with
the only one i could talk to
and sit with
and smile with at such a young age
when it snowed a couple inches
you ran over to my house as you would
and went in my backyard
we flew down the hill as fast as we could
before all the letters that defined me
you stood there right beside me
today, yeah today, it's just an empty shell
of the memories that once was
you've grown out your hair and changed its color
you’ve grown a couple inches taller
you’ve been drawing and crafting and living and breathing
without me, without me
I’m sorry that I’ve never called
i wanted to but I just can’t talk
to anyone anymore
not even you, not even you
I remember the last time I saw your face (saw your face)
June 18th in the pouring rain (pouring rain)
i saw the tears welling up in your eyes, in your eyes
You didn’t want to leave this place
But you did
And you moved away (moved away)
we haven’t talked for hundreds of days (hundreds of days)
yet today yet today
that all changed
I’m telling you, you were like no other (like no other)
there were so many things that we could’ve discovered (could’ve discovered)
no you’re own your own exploring
without me
I’m sorry that I’ve never called (never called)
i wanted to but I just can’t talk (just can’t talk)
to anyone (anyone), anymore
not even you, no, even you
I’m telling you, you were like no other (like no other)
there were so many things that we could’ve discovered (could’ve discovered)
no you’re own (on your own) you’re own your own dreaming, and laughing
without me (without me)
I’m sorry that I’ve never called (never called)
these days i am just so lost (just so lost)
with everything, and everyone
oh, even you, yeah even you
its funny how easy we can talk
even though we haven’t for so long
we just started where we left off
we started where we left off
